State Senate to Hold Hearings on Boat Registration Increase

Concord—April 20, 2014–The State Senate has set Tuesday, April 22, as a hearing date for HB 292, a bill proposing a $2 boat registration fee increase to increase the amount of money available for milfoil control in state waters.

The hearing will be before the Senate Transportation Committee in Room 103 of the Legislative Office Building in Concord. The group Fair Funding for Invasives Control is enlisting lake residents and others who support the legislation to attend the meeting and show their support.

State Senator Jed Bradley, who represents the Ossipee Lake area, co-sponsored the measure in January. It’s estimated that the registration increase will raise $200,000 in additional revenue for the state’s underfunded milfoil control fund.

Ossipee Lake Alliance is one of a number of New Hampshire lake organizations supporting the measure.
