Unique Milfoil Clean-Up Effort Needs Volunteers

Freedom — October 13, 2004 — Professional divers have been hired to hand-pull milfoil from Danforth Brook to upper Danforth Pond, and volunteers are needed to work from boats to assist them.

As a volunteer, you will simply collect the weeds that the divers pull from the water. The work is easy and it is critically important to the success of the effort. We have boats available, but it is a plus if you have a canoe, kayak, or rowboat that can be on-site during any of the diving days.

Volunteers are needed on the following Fridays and Saturdays: October 15th and 16th; October 22nd and 23rd; October 29th and 30th; and November 5th and 6th. You can volunteer to work from 3-6 hours on any of these days. Bring a snack and dress appropriately for the weather. Please contact June D’Andrea as soon as possible at 603-539-1643, or jmdandrea@www.ossipeelake.org.

This program is being paid for by a combination of public and private funds, but volunteers are needed from all over Ossipee Lake to ensure that it is successful. Please contact June D’Andrea today and volunteer a few hours of your time on any of the dates listed above.
