Freedom — July 18, 2005 — A Londonderry teen died Monday afternoon after being pulled out of the fish pond at Totem Pole Campground in Freedom.The 15-year-old was fishing from a dock at the pond when he fell in, according to Freedom Chief of Police Charles Pearson.
The boy was pulled out of the water, and numerous people assisted in trying to revive the youth, including the boy’s mother, who is a nurse, Pearson reported Monday night, July 18.
Pearson said the boy died from an apparent accidental drowning. At press time, it was unknown whether the boy had been injured in the fall.
It was a drop of about a foot from the dock to “about two feet of water,” Pearson said.
Freedom Police received the call from 911 at 3:09 p.m. The youth was pronounced dead at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro later Monday afternoon.
