In a public letter, the Executive Committee of Broad-Leavitt Bay Association, one of the lake’s largest such organizations, calls Ossipee’s proposed purchase of Camp Sokokis “an excellent asset acquisition” and a “once in a lifetime opportunity” for a town beach. Ossipee Lake Alliance came out in favor of the plan on November 7. Voters will have the final say on Tuesday, November 28.
Ice out is a time of quiet on the lake. Some folks love that first open water paddle just to see what’s going on. Sometimes the winter ice has moved things around and left some surprises. With everything waking up and the lake getting restless, it’s a good time to keep your eyes and ears open to the wonders of spring.
At a June 6th community meeting, Green Mountain Conservation Group will report on the first phase of its Ossipee Watershed Management Plan and discuss how it will proceed with phase two, which will study the Ossipee Lake system this year and next.
Five amendments are on the ballot for this year’s Freedom Town Meeting on Tuesday, March 10th.
