Select Board hears from proponents of Dan Hole Watershed Trust's offer to fund and gift to the town a planning study rejected by voters last year, as well as those who don't want the study to be done no matter who pays for it. Board votes 4-2 to accept privately raised funds for a voter-rejected land planning study, then reverses itself on a 3-2 vote, with one abstention, to let the Select Board decide what to do.

On July 5 people from across the region got to weigh in on the applica­tion at a planning board hearing that attracted about 65 people. There were com­ments about the impact the expansion could have on the lake water quality, economic im­pact, and safety, but the focus was mainly on the expansion onto the pen­insula. That expansion includes just 15 of the proposed 246 new sites. The campground, locat­ed off Route 16 on New­man Drew Road in West Ossipee currently has 258 sites.

Select Board seats will be contested in all three Ossipee Lake communities.

Select Board declines to cite a reason for taking action against Gene Dow, who has been fire chief since June 2008.
